I am available for speaking engagements, school visits, festivals, book fairs, and pajama parties. Below are descriptions of workshops I teach. Creative writing – In this workshop, author Julie Chibbaro addresses elusive questions beginning writers face: How do I make my characters seem more real? What can I do to create a strong plot? What’s the best way to get myself to write more? Through exercises and craft lessons, participants will have a chance to write and read their in-class writing aloud. Time travel – In this workshop, author Julie Chibbaro will show students how to transport themselves to a long-ago era using characters and details that will best tell their adventures. Share it! – Secretly scribbling short stories in the shower? Doing all your writing in a vacuum? Shine some light on it and see what others think of your brilliant words. In this workshop, participants bring in a story they have written to read aloud and receive feedback from author Julie Chibbaro and students. How else will you know what impact your words can have? Write it down! – Journaling can have a strong impact on a writer’s life. A journal is a where writers try out new ideas, where they dump their feelings, where they collect information on their own lives as well as the lives of their characters. Author Julie Chibbaro, who has kept a daily journal for over ten years, will show participants how to start a journal, and how to stick with it. |
